What to expect at a PLACED event

All our events are slightly different because we work on different projects in different places. So, we do have to have set things up slightly differently each time. However, we try to keep these things consistent, so you know what to expect from a PLACED community event.

Informal

  • Whether it’s drop-in anytime or a registered workshop, all our events are informal. All we ask is that we’re all respectful of each other.

Friendly staff

  • Our events are staffed by a mix of people, there will always be a PLACED member of staff, and they might be joined by people working on the project, an architect or perhaps a council employee. We’re hear to listen to your views so please come and chat.

Accessible

We try hard to think through how we can make our events as accessible as possible. This includes:

  • Making sure there are enough staff available to support everyone to contribute. This could be by reading out material, explaining in more detail or describing visual materials being presented.
  • Our maps include landmarks and street labels to help everyone understand where a project is taking place.
  • We always try to have large format print materials, and we have a magnifying glass available for those who might want some extra zoom.
  • We check our colours to make sure we have high contrast, but we also have a set of coloured reading rulers if the colour if the colour isn’t right for you.

How to find us

  • We’ll give a clear address so you can always find our event and try to include a photo of the venue or location.
  • PLACED staff also wear an orange lanyard.
  • Sometimes you can look for the bright orange gazebo.
